By Lawson Smith Anchor/Reporter
A 16-year-old North Forsyth High School student was arrested for making terroristic threats towards the school.

Threatening messages were reportedly found on a bathroom wall at the high school on Oct. 3, according to a release from the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.

“The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office takes threats of this nature very seriously and investigates them thoroughly,” the release read.

The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office along with Forsyth County School Safety and North Forsyth High School Administrators worked to investigate the incident. During the investigation, additional deputies were assigned to the school.

It was determined that the threats were false and had no planning or intent to harm anyone at the school.

The suspect was identified after administration and authorities reviewed hours of the school’s surveillance footage and interviewed numerous students. When authorities interviewed the suspect, the student indicated the intent behind the threats was not to physically harm anyone but to shut down the school.

The student has been charged with felony terroristic threats, disruption of public school and trespass. He will be transported to a Regional Youth Detention Center in Gainesville, according to authorities.
