Lakeview Academy has been named to the Advanced Placement program's honor roll with a high-level distinction.
The school announced Friday that College Board named it to the roll with platinum designation. That designation is based on 88 percent of Lakeview's 2023 class taking at least one AP course before graduating, 75 percent earning college credit based on AP exam scores and 40 percent taking five or more AP courses during their high school years.
The minimum requirements for those numbers for platinum distinction are 80 percent, 50 percent and 15 percent respectively.
Lakeview Academy Assistant Head of School for Academics Beth McElwee said the distinction is because of the work of the school's teachers.
“Lakeview’s mission is to prepare students for college and our faculty is the best at doing that,” McElwee said in Friday's release. “Our teachers train students in time management, organizational skills, study skills, and, perhaps most important, they teach students how to advocate for themselves. All these skills are necessary for college preparedness.”
School officials also said the 2023 class had a mean SAT score of just over 1200.
