Oakwood teen killed in wreck on McEver Road

A teenager from Oakwood was killed in a single-vehicle wreck Saturday evening on McEver Road in Hall County.

The Georgia State Patrol said in a press release Daniel Reyes, 18, was identified as the victim in the wreck that occurred at about 7:30 p.m. near Vineyard Way.

Troopers determined Reyes was driving a 2008 Scion south on McEver Road and was attempting to navigate around a right-hand curve. However, the Scion was traveling too fast for roadway conditions, causing it to strike the concrete median. This collision sent the vehicle across the northbound lanes of McEver Road and off the west shoulder.

The vehicle struck a DOT road sign and utility pole as it traveled off the shoulder.

Reyes died as a result. He was extricated from the vehicle by Hall County Fire Rescue and released to the Hall County Coroner's Office.

Both Georgia Power and Jackson EMC were notified of the power lines and pole.

This was the second fatal roadway incident that occurred Saturday on McEver Road. The other incident left a female pedestrian dead following a collision near J White Road.
