The Hall County Board of Commissioners Thursday night tabled their decision on a three-part application for a boat and RV storage facility along Cleveland Highway.
The applicant, Dutton Properties, is seeking three different approvals from commissioners, with the first one being a rezoning application to swap a 20-acre plot of land from Agricultural Residential and Planned Commercial Development to a Light Industrial zoning, according to county documents.
The second request will allow the business owners to store items outside and the third was a variance that would reduce transitional buffers on the property.
The area in question sits at 3405, 3419, 3443 and 3505 Cleveland Highway and 3906 Donna Drive.
Planning staff previously recommended denial of all parts of the application, citing that the proposal is inconsistent with the land use classification laid out in the comprehensive plan for that area.
At the subsequent meeting on Oct. 2, planning commissioners recommended approval of the first two requests, while recommending denial of the transitional buffer request. Seven neighboring residents spoke in opposition to the application at that meeting.
Dutton Properties plans to conduct storage business on the site, allowing residents to store boats and RVs with both covered and uncovered options available.
The property currently hosts two existing residences, one of which will be used as the contractor's office.
Due to site plans and verbiage being adjusted in the proposal, the Board of Commissioners elected Thursday to postpone their decision on the item, pushing their vote back to Jan. 25.
