Hall County Courts will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Nov. 30 to unveil a new jury assembly room at the Hall County Courthouse in Downtown Gainesville.
Hall County officials said in a press release the room will have an increased capacity from 120 people to 225 people, with an added 2,600 sq. ft. of space.
“As Hall County continues to grow, so too will its Judicial System," Hall County Clerk of Courts Charles Baker said. "This project is just another forward-thinking plan that allows for expanded capacity and use to meet the needs of this growing community."
The room is 4,397 sq. ft and has new features including audio and visual capabilities that will allow the jury to watch video orientation and a check-in queuing area to alleviate congestion in courthouse hallways.
Completed in August, the jury assembly room was built with a $1.4 million budget funded by the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax VII and Capital Projects.
Refreshments will be provided at the ribbon-cutting ceremony, along with a chance to tour the room. It will be held at 2 p.m.
Guests are advised to go to the second floor of the courthouse when they arrive. The Jury Assembly Room is on the right-hand side at the end of the hallway.
