North Georgia Community Foundation awards nearly $430K to various nonprofits

The North Georgia Community Foundation recently awarded 46 different nonprofits funding totaling nearly $430K as part of its 2023 Community Grant Cycle.

The grant cycle with NGCF is application-based and helps highlight NGCF’s commitment to supporting programs and services that “enrich the lives of North Georgia residents,” the foundation said Thursday.

The total amount awarded was $429,922, going to 46 different nonprofits in the North Georgia region. Each award ranged between $500 to $25,000, bolstering the different organization's needs, from health and human services to education and community improvement.

"We [NGCF] have been running this program for 24 years. The first year, we awarded $10,000; so, to see where we are now is incredible," Senior Director Margaux Dolenc said. “These community grants, along with this year’s opportunity grants of $107,000, total an impressive $537,000 that has been awarded through these NGCF Grant Programs this year.”

Funding for the NGCF grant programs comes from a community fund, generated by contributions from NGCF fundholders, officials said. The increase in grant funding over the years has reportedly enabled the grant programs to build a stronger community and create lasting change.

NGCF celebrated this year's grant recipients last week, where each nonprofit was recognized before an audience of their peers.
