The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office has charged an Alto man with reckless conduct after he was injured by an allegedly self-inflicted gunshot Wednesday night in the parking lot of Habersham Hills Cinema.

Habersham County E-9-1-1 received a call from 39-year-old Michael Andrew Stembridge of Alto. He was reportedly sitting in a red Dodge van.

Stembridge told a 9-1-1 dispatcher he had been shot and needed an ambulance.

Deputies from the sheriff’s office arrived to find Stembridge suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his left thigh.

He was transported by Habersham County Emergency Services to Northeast Georgia Medical Center and was later released.

The Habersham County sheriff’s deputies then arrested him with one count of reckless conduct.
