Patients experiencing lower urinary tract symptoms related to an enlarged prostate now have access to a more precise, minimally invasive treatment option at Northeast Georgia Medical Center Braselton.
Aquablation therapy is being used to treat an enlarged prostate, clinically known as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), by a surgeon using the AquaBeam Robotic System.
NGMC officials say it is the only procedure that uses a heat-free waterjet controlled by robotic technology to remove any excess prostate tissue causing symptoms. No incision is made, as the prostate is reached through the urethra.
Doctor David Stanley, a urologist with Northeast Georgia Physicians Group says that they are seeing, "positive benefits of utilizing this type of therapy which results in fewer complications, minimal to no sexual side effects and more long-term symptom relief for patients."
