By Hamilton Keener Anchor / Reporter

Five people were displaced and two were taken to a local hospital following a Wednesday afternoon house fire in Gainesville.

Kimberlie Ledsinger with Hall County Fire Rescue said Gainesville Fire units and HCFR responded at around 2:20 p.m. to reports of a residential fire in the 1000 block of Jordan Drive.

Crews found the basement of a single-family home engulfed in flames. Authorities cleared the home and knocked down the fire.

“Two of the residents were transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NEGMC) Gainesville for further evaluation,” Ledsinger said.

The cause of the fire is unknown and under investigation by the Hall County Fire Marshal’s Office.
