Gainesville Theater Alliance bringing Narnia to life

By Giselle Mesquital Intern

Writer C.S Lewis’s “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” will soon be presented on stage in Hall County for all lovers of the classic Narnia tale.

The story will be presented by the Gainesville Theater Alliance as part of their Theater for Young Audiences division, WonderQuest.

The presentation will follow Joseph Robinette’s adaptation of the tale, and will be directed by GTA Artistic director and UNG’s School of Communication, Film and Theatre Associate Director, Zechariah Pierce.

“I have fond memories of my mother reading this story to me as a young boy,” Pierce said. “Now I have the innate pleasure of bringing it to the children (young and old) of our audiences.”

All ages are welcome to see the production on October 7, 8, and 14 at Brenau University’s Pearce Auditorium. Ticket prices will range from $8 to $15 and are available online at GainesvilleTheaterAlliance.org or by calling the GTA box office at (678)-717-3624

Additionally, audiences are invited after the October 8, 2:30 p.m. performance to attend a free Ice Cream Social where characters will be available for pictures.

“Perhaps the deep magic of this play can work its way through audiences and remain with them as Narnia has remained in my heart and mind through the last thirty years,” says Pierce.
