LifeSouth in emergency need of all blood types after winter storm

By Hamilton Keener Anchor / Reporter

LifeSouth Community Blood Centers are facing an emergency need for all blood types following Winter Storm Finn.

In a release, LifeSouth urged the community to donate blood as supplies are already low due to the holidays, school closures and winter weather.

Blood drives and blood donor centers were closed in affected areas which impacts the blood supply as blood donors are needed daily LifeSouth said.

Local hospitals rely on LifeSouth to ensure blood is available before it is needed.

Throughout January, all blood donors receive a $20 e-gift card, and donors who donate platelets, plasma or a double red cell donation receive an additional $20 e-gift card.

LifeSouth’s donor center in Atlanta is located at 4891 Ashford Dunwoody Road, Atlanta, GA 30338. The organization also has facilities in Gainesville, Cumming and many other spots throughout the north Georgia region. LifeSouth’s bloodmobiles will also be out at many locations in the coming days.
