Hall County Fire Rescue (HCFR) officials are searching for the cause of an overnight chicken house fire on the east side of the county.
A press release Tuesday from HCFR's Kimberlie Ledsinger indicates that at approximately 10:00pm, on Monday, December 2nd, their units responded to the 4100 block of East Hall Rd. for reports of a woods fire. The first arriving engine discovered that it was a fully involved chicken house that had already burned to the ground. Ledsinger says they later learned that the structure was housing over 18-thousand chicks at the time, which perished in the fire.
Onsite units with HCFR then requested more engines respond to the scene, as well as the water tender for water supply.
Crews fought the flames and prevented further extension for about two hours while continuously shuttling water to the scene, due to a lack of hydrants in the area.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Hall County Fire Marshal’s Office.
