Gwinnett County Police looking for missing Buford teen

By Will Daughtry News Reporter

The Gwinnett County Police Department is looking for the whereabouts of a missing Buford teen.

16-year-old Asata Amun was last seen running out of the front door of her residence on February 1. According to officials, she did not bring any personal items with her.

The day before Amun’s disappearance, she was disciplined by school administrators, which detectives believe provoked her to leave the house.

Amun’s family members claim she did not speak about running away before she left and are hopeful someone will come forward with any information on her whereabouts.

Amun was reported missing by her father and is described as being 5-foot-2 and weighing 115 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Officials say she was last seen wearing a white shirt and black pants at her home on Westoak Court in Buford.

The GCPD has issued a news release and social media posts on the case but have not yet received any information.

If anyone has any information to share, officials urge the public to contact GCPD detectives at (770) 513-5300. For anonymity, tipsters can contact Crime Stoppers at (404) 577-8477 or at www.stopcrimeATL.com.
