Gainesville Mayor not chicken, places poultry wager on Red Elephants

By AccessWDUN Staff

Ahead of Friday's high school football game between the Gainesville Red Elephants and Marietta Blue Devils the mayors of both cities have placed a “fowl wager.”

Gainesville Mayor Sam Couvillon and Marietta Mayor Steve ‘Thunder’ Tumlin have bet a chicken dinner on the outcome of the season-opening game at Northcutt Stadium in Marietta.

If the Red Elephants win, Tumlin will treat Couvillon to a chicken dinner under the 50-foot-plus-tall Big Chicken. Couvillon will also receive a Big Chicken pin.

Should Marietta win, Couvillon will buy Tumlin fresh, local chicken.

The matchup between Gainesville and Marietta will begin at 7:30 p.m. and broadcast live on 94.5 FM The Lake.
