MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR APALACHEE HIGH SCHOOL
Event Name: Light in the Dark, Winder
Event Date & Time:
Friday, September 6, 6 – 9 p.m.
Event Location: Jug Tavern Park, 139 E. Athens St., Winder, GA
Event Details: In honor and sympathy of the victims of this week’s tragic event at Apalachee High School. The City of Winder invites you to A Light in the Dark on Friday, September 6, 2024. This event will pay respect with a memorial service for those who lost their lives and for the families affected. Event will begin at 6 p.m. and memorial ceremony will be held in the back pavilion of Jug Taven Park at 6:30 p.m. Grief counselors will be on site available to those who need support.

FESTIVALS & EVENTS
Event Name: Dragon Boat Festival Competition, Gainesville
Event Date & Time:
Saturday, September 7, 6:30 a.m.
Event Location: 3105 Clarks Bridge Rd., Gainesville
Event Details: This annual event is always a ton of fun to participate in or just to watch. If you have any interest, you can join. No previous experience or fitness ability is required. Event Name: Liberty Festival, Gainesville
Event Date & Time:
Saturday, September 7, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Event Location: Laurel Park, Gainesville
Event Details: Music, vendors, local talent, kids’ activities, a tractor parade and more! Free entry for the community. There will also be a car show with prizes awarded. Vehicles, tractors, engines and motorcycles are all welcome. Any money made from the event will go to support efforts of launching free shipping of packages to those men and women who are deployed. Event Name: Oktoberfest, Helen
Event Date & Time:
Now Through October 27 (Weekends in September)
Event Location: Downtown Helen
Event Details: Kick off Oktoberfest this weekend! On Saturday there will be a parade at 12 p.m. The tapping of the first keg will take place immediately after the parade at the Fussen Biergarten at the Helen Festhalle. Event Name: C/10 Club Georgia Drive-In Theater, Cleveland
Event Date & Time:
Saturday, September 7, 6 p.m.
Event Location: 41 Asa Dorsey Rd., Cleveland
Event Details: The event begins at 6 but the movie will begin around sunset. Food vendors will be on site. There will also be popcorn and candy available. This month’s movie will be “The Fast and the Furious.” For questions, call 706-878-0828.
