'A place to call home': LCA unveils newly constructed campus

Lanier Christian Academy officially unveiled its newly constructed school campus in Flowery Branch Tuesday afternoon.

The over 80,0000 square-foot building comes after the school has operated for years out of local churches, including Westminster Church, Christ Place Church, Sugar Hill Church and Northeast Church. LCA Director of Institutional Advancement David Roberts shared the school has searched for a permanent location for decades.

“We've been talking about having our own place to call home for 40 years,” Roberts said. “... I think of these folks that have invested in this place for 40 years, you should see the number of people that have tears on their face right now- that are so excited to see us finally have our own place. We've been grateful to the many churches and places that have allowed us, graciously to rent from them and do what we do best, which is teach kids with a biblical worldview.”

The new facility is three stories high, however, grades kindergarten through eighth grade will be the first students to attend classes in the building. High school students will remain at the school’s old Chestnut Mountain Church location until the construction of their facilities are complete. The campus features 56 academic spaces,  a gymnasium, indoor and outdoor playgrounds, and five spaces dedicated to art, music and other media.

Roberts said the new campus was also designed to accommodate future growth.

“We only could hold up to 550 students [before],” Roberts explained. “We're at 530 [students], so for us to get another student, it has to be just the right kid and just the right place…now, we'll have capacity for up to 1000 students.”

Students will return for their first semester in the new building on Thursday.  For a full video tour of the new campus, click the video above.
