Forsyth County Sheriff attends signing of Laken Riley Act at White House

By Hamilton Keener Anchor / Reporter

Forsyth County Sheriff Ron Freeman was in attendance when President Donald Trump signed the Laken Riley Act at the White House on Wednesday.

“It is truly an honor to be invited by President Trump for the signing of the Laken Riley Act,” Freeman said “It is a privilege to represent the citizens of Forsyth County and the State of Georgia on the National stage.”

The act, which received bipartisan support in both the House and the Senate, will require the detention of unauthorized immigrants accused of theft or violent crimes.

The Laken Riley Act is named after a Georgia nursing student who was murdered by an illegal immigrant from Venezuela.
