Two drivers were injured in a Saturday morning collision at the intersection of Cornelia Hwy and Lula Rd.
The Hall County Sheriff’s Office said the accident occurred just before 9:30 a.m. An initial investigation revealed the driver of a Fed-Ex box truck, Eleuterio Vargas, 65, of Covington, was attempting to make a left-hand turn from Cornelia Hwy northbound onto Lula Rd. westbound.
The traffic signal was reportedly flashing yellow at the time. Vargas pulled into the path of a southbound passenger vehicle being driven by Gilbert Ibarra, 31, of Gainesville.
Both drivers were transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville for treatment. Vargas was charged with failure to yield turning left.
Cornelia Hwy southbound was closed for about an hour while the investigation was underway.
