The Hall County Board of Education voted to approve the appointment of two new principals for Chicopee Woods Elementary and Cherokee Bluff Middle School during Tuesday’s meeting.
Hall County Schools Superintendent Will Schofield recommended Robert Wilson to be the next principal of Chicopee Woods Elementary School, and recommended Leigh Wilson to be the principal of Cherokee Bluff Middle School.
Robert currently serves as the principal of Cherokee Bluff Middle School. He will take the role left vacant by Rebecca Fisher, who is stepping aside at the end of the school year. Robert also served as an assistant principal at Flowery Branch High School and as the Principal of Lyman Hall Elementary School.
“I have had the honor to serve in public education for the past 29 years--with the last 15 years in Hall County--and every stop along the way helped me prepare for the next challenge,” Robert said. “I’m excited about the opportunity to serve the students, teachers and families of Chicopee Woods Elementary.”
Leigh currently serves as the assistant principal at Cherokee Bluff High School but has also served in that role at Cherokee Bluff Middle School. Prior to her experience in administration, Leigh taught mathematics at Chestatee and Cherokee Bluff High Schools.
“I want to thank Mr. Schofield and the Board of Education for the opportunity to serve as principal of Cherokee Bluff Middle School,” Leigh said. “Having been a part of Cherokee Bluff since its beginning, I know what a special community we have. I look forward to joining in the incredible work that is already taking place and continuing to build on the strong foundation that has been set.”
Both will assume their new positions for the 2025-2026 school year.
