Governor Brian Kemp has made his decision on who will become the new Solicitor General for Hall County.
This comes over six months after former Solicitor General Stephanie Woodard took a plea deal that included a condition for her to resign.
After that, Assistant Solicitor General Stephanie Thompson was named the current acting Solicitor General in August to fill in until Kemp found a replacement.
Now, it’s been confirmed by Thompson that Inez Grant was selected for the job.
Grant submitted her application in December along with Thompson.
Grant is a Gillsville attorney and has worked as an attorney in Georgia since 1992. She previously worked as a prosecutor and chief assistant in the Hall County Solicitor General's Office under previous solicitor Jerry Rylee.
Grant said several people had reached out to her asking her to apply for the position.
The appointment has not been formally announced by Kemp, and Grant has not commented since reportedly being selected.
