ATLANTA - The state Transportation Board has voted to ask a state committee to green-light a proposal to add toll lanes along Ga. 400 that has been stalled for nearly four years.
The latest version of the proposal includes adding optional toll lanes to Ga. 400 from either Interstate 85 at Brookwood or Interstate 285 in Sandy Springs north to about Ga. 20 in Forsyth County.
Board member David Doss made a motion Thursday to encourage the committee to pass the proposal, a different version of which was first submitted by private companies in December 2004.
A majority of evaluation committee members are appointees or allies of Gov. Sonny Perdue. He has resisted approving such a big project with so much still to be decided about the surrounding roads.
