Police release name of Hoschton murder victim

HOSCHTON - Gwinnett County police have released the name of woman killed in a shooting at her home on Platinum Court in Hoschton Wednesday morning.<br /> <br /> Melissa Kimsey, 30, was found dead at the scene when police answered a 911 call around 4:35 a.m., according to Gwinnett Police Cpl. Jake Smith.<br /> <br /> Smith said the victim's 13-year-old daughter was the one who placed the emergency call, telling dispatchers that her mother had been shot. When authorities first arrived, Smith said they found Kimsey's husband outside the house behaving erratically.<br /> <br /> "He was acting as if maybe he were on drugs or what we might expect from someone suffering from dementia, but until we get a little more input from medical personnel, we won't know specifically what the problem was," said Smith.<br /> <br /> The suspect has been identified as Rodney Kimsey II, 31.<br /> <br /> The victim was found dead inside the house; she had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.<br /> <br /> Rodney Kimsey was taken to a local hospital to be evaluated, according to Smith, and would be released to police, who would file charges.<br /> <br /> Smith said while the 13-year-old daughter was in the home at the time of the shooting, he is unsure what she witnessed. She was not physically injured.<br />
