ALPHARETTA, Ga. (AP) Authorities in Alpharetta are investigating after a 3-year-old Roswell boy died at a daycare center, and a state agency says it intends to close the facility.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports the Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office says Thomas Stephens died by asphyxia from hanging.
Alpharetta public safety spokesman George Gordon said in a news release says emergency responders were called just before 10 a.m. Tuesday. They found a woman doing CPR on a child in the yard.
Gordon says an investigation revealed a loop of twine on a piece of playground equipment may have contributed to the boy's death.
Bright from the Start: Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning has issued an order for intended emergency closure of the center. The owner has 48 business hours to appeal.
