Passenger in fatal north Hall accident found, charged

By B.J. Williams
GAINESVILLE — The Georgia State Patrol has found the passenger that left the scene of a fatal car accident in north Hall County a week ago.

Sgt. Anthony Coleman Thursday morning confirmed the arrest of Alexander Christopher Chalmers.

Chalmers was the front seat passenger in a vehicle that pulled into the path of another vehicle on Mt. Vernon Road from Shirley Road during the morning rush hour last Friday. The driver of the vehicle, 70-year-old Randolph Taylor Evans of Commerce, died at the scene.

Coleman said the State Patrol is unsure why Chalmers left the accident scene, but he has been charged with obstruction of law enforcement and reckless conduct.
