By Associated Press

ALBANY, Ga. (AP) Police have released the identities of the people who died after a small plane crashed on takeoff from the Southwest Georgia Regional Airport in city of Albany.

Albany Police spokeswoman Phyllis Banks on Sunday identified the victims as 40-year-old David Brett Knight, 30-year-old Brittany Kerfoot and 49-year-old Kevin Coalson. Banks says the crash occurred near the main runway at the airport Saturday afternoon.

Banks says emergency crews went immediately to the site. She did not know the plane's intended destination.

Arlene Salac of the Federal Aviation Administration said in an emailed statement that the Lancair 4 aircraft crashed at 2:35 p.m. The FAA is currently investigating and the National Transportation Safety Board would determine the probable cause.
