By B.J. Williams

At the end of April, developers of Atlanta River Walk released an outline of their plan to build a $700 million mixed-use development in the Braselton area; on Monday, the Hall County Planning Commission takes up a rezoning request for the project.

ARW Group, LLC has filed an application to rezone a 508-acre tract of land at Old Winder Highway and Howington Road from AR-IV to PRD and PCD, according to the meeting agenda for the planning board.

Plans for the property include a man-made water feature as a the central focus of the development. The developer wants to build various types of housing - apartments, single-family dwellings and active senior residences. In addition, the development would include corporate office space, retail shops and a movie theatre, among other features.

The Hall County Planning Commission will meet Monday, June 20 at 5:15 p.m. at the Hall County Government Center, 2875 Browns Bridge Road in Gainesville.
