Plans for nearly 500 new homes to be considered by Braselton officials this month

By Ken Stanford Contributing Editor

Plans for nearly 500 new homes are scheduled to be considered by Brasleton officials this month, starting with the city council on Monday.

That's when an annexation application from Meritage Homes of Georgia for property owned by Fountainhead Residential Development Corporation, Inc., will be considered. The tract totals about 141 acres and is on Duncan Creek Road.  The applicant intends to develop the property for 321 single-family lots on the site.

On March 23, the Braselton Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on a rezoning application from Johnnie Hastings for property owned by Vijay Madisetti. The 21-acre site is on Broadway Avenue and is currently zoned Manufacturing-Distribution.  The applicant is requesting that it be rezoned to Multi-Family and plans the development of 161 single-family units on the property.
