Brown to lead Forsyth County communications and external affairs

Russell Brown has been named director of the Forsyth County Department of Communications and External Affairs.

Brown has served as interim director of the department since September.

“Russell has been a strong, consistent servant of not only the communications department but the County as a whole for several years,” said County Manager Kevin Tanner in a statement. “Russell has been the ‘face’ of Forsyth [County] for several years, and I am looking forward to seeing him take this department to new heights.”

Brown began his career with Forsyth County in 2017 and has served in the roles of communications coordinator, manager and assistant director. He has nearly 15 years of experience in communications, content generation, public relations and multimedia.

Before Forsyth County, Brown worked as a talk show host and reporter for WDUN and AccessWDUN.com, products of Jacobs Media in Gainesville.

He also was a news anchor for the CBT Automotive News Network.

Brown is a graduate of Georgia Southern University with a bachelor of science in Multimedia Communication.
