Alpharetta police say officer impersonator pulled teen over

By Associated Press

ALPHARETTA, Ga. (AP) Alpharetta police are warning drivers after they say a man impersonating an officer tried to get into a teenage girl's car.

Local media report the teen told investigators the man pulled her over Sunday night using flashing blue and red lights. But the 16-year-old quickly realized he wasn't driving a squad car.

Police say the man then asked the teen if he could get into her car. When she said no, police said the man asked if she would pull into a wooded area.

Police say the teen noticed the man wasn't wearing a badge. When she asked if he was a real officer, the man said ``Whatever,'' and returned to his car.

Police said drivers can call 911 if they feel uneasy when they're pulling over for an officer.
