GAINESVILLE - In conjunction with World Habitat Day, Habitat for Humanity Hall County will break ground on its new subdivision, Copper Glen, Oct. 5.
Copper Glen is the first Habitat Hall subdivision and will have 21 Habitat homes when complete. The subdivision was donated to Habitat Hall in 2014 by an anonymous donor and boasts mature hardwoods, greenspace, a nature trail, and community gardens. The groundbreaking will begin at 1:30 and will be held at the entrance to the subdivision off of Baker Road. The community is invited to attend.
"We are ecstatic to finally break ground on this property and make dreams turn to reality for our local homeowner partners,” said Ann Nixon, Executive Director. The first two homes will be built simultaneously and are scheduled for completion in early 2016. Construction of additional homes will be ongoing throughout 2016 and beyond.
Habitat for Humanity International, its partners, and affiliates will take part in the United Nations-designated day, observed every year on the first Monday in October, to advocate for better shelter around the world. The day is observed with activities and messages that focus on the need for safe, decent and affordable shelter.
