A Town’s County resident helped catch a trustee from a Towns County work detail who had been on the run Thursday.
A social media post by the Towns County Sheriff's Office Friday said Bruce Douglas Partin, Jr., age 39, was spotted by a resident at around 5:15 p.m. on Fodder Creek Road in the Gander Gap area. He had reportedly been on the run since Monday.
Almost two hours later, another resident, Steven Kirby, was inside his home near Fodder Creek when he heard his dog Odie aggressively alerting him of a person outside the home.
According to the sheriff’s office, Kirby grabbed his weapon, went outside and was immediately confronted by Partin. He then ordered the suspect to the ground and Partin complied.
Kirby’s wife Amy called 911 and deputies arrested Partin at around 7:10 p.m.
Sheriff Ken Henderson extended his gratitude to the Fodder Creek community and the Kirby's for their vigilance and assistance in capturing the suspect.
"It is truly a pleasure to work in a community where we can count on the ongoing support of citizens like Mr. Kirby to stand behind us and, in cases like this, even physically aid us when necessary," Henderson said.
Partin was taken to the Towns County Detention Center.
